Description: first it was just one or two but a couple of days later swarms of bees were all collecting pigfood into their pollen baskets, they now visit every afternoon. This is a wild hive which lives in the garden, I can't imagine what the honey etc is going to turn out like, but these little guys are very enthusiastic about their harvesting. I would venture a guess that it's the molasses in the feed which attracts the bees, although its not a major component.

Description: I put out crushed mielies for the doves, and noticed that the bees where having a field day in the tray. On closer inspection I noticed the bees wrapping themselves around the crushed kernel and collecting the dust onto their legs to carry away. I understand from a bee keeper that when food is scarce, they may resort to other measures for food, but still I find this very interesting. You can clearly see the kernels that have been rubbed clean by the bees.
