Description: We first saw this lion from a distance as it walked across the open plain. we could see it was heading for the Tamboti turnoff and we went down the road to get a better look. the reward was watching this magnificent creature scent-marking its territory, walking down the road and frighting the local impala and wildebeest. looking into those eyes was a whole new experience for me.

The cubs where still very small at that time and rangers told me that the two sub-adult males only recently took over this pride. Now the pride has 23 mouth to feed. It seems they specialized themselves to hunt Giraffe, and they seem resident arrount Namutoni

Description: We were sitting in the hide on our last night in Nossob, just the two of us, when out of the dark materialised this lioness and her cub. Neither of us had cameras which work in low light, so we just watched in awe. They drank for a full 10 minutes! Then wandered off to lie under the tree next to the hide. This photo was taken by the ©Nossob webcam, and you can see the other photos here. I hope Sanparks don't mind me posting this photo here.

Description: The same two chaps (http://www.ispot.org.za/node/286080) make it to the waterhole an hour later. They have the most awesome, relentless, ground-eating gentle stride. The one lion was a tad injured. Once the other dude had drunk his fill, he lay down in the road and waited for his buddy. When buddy was sated, the boys greeted each other affectionately and strode off over the next hill. One forgets just how enormous these beasts are! Breathtaking!

Description: My first cheetah :-) I was led to believe that cheetahs ate as fast as possible because they couldn't compete with the other cats and canids that may try to steal the kill. So why is this chap/ette lying so relaxed next to its springbok (which looks untouched, though we couldn't see the belly)? A jackal trotted past but gave it a wide berth.
