Description: This magnificent bird was collected from Muizenberg beach, exhausted, by me (SANCCOB volunteer), after the tremendous gales of the 30th March 2013. It had 1/2 web missing from its left foot, but it was an old injury. Reminded us of a dodo, and was very heavy and difficult to tube feed.

Description: This is probably a young bird, and is possibly the same individual that had been released from SANCCOB a few days earlier. Note the ring.
The reddish brown tip is characteristic for this species.
