Description: African Penguins grow to 68–70 cm tall and weigh between 2 and 5 kg. They have a black stripe and black spots on the chest, the pattern of spots being unique for every penguin, like human fingerprints.

Description: Aw moment! I received 5 African penguin chicks (I am a SANCCOB volunteer in the S Peninsular)yesterday. The one I am holding is only a few days old. What a privilege to do this work!
Residents near Boulders don't want the nests in their gardens.

Description: This is one of the first observations I made in South Africa on my first visit in 2005. How I wish I could be with you all this evening!
All of us at iSpot HQ are very excited about your launch this evening and we send you heartfelt congratulations. We have marvelled from afar as Tony Rebelo and his team at SANBI have recruited hundreds of iSpotters and made thousands and thousands of wonderful observations of South African biodiversity in preparation for the launch today.
