iSpot downtime
21 February 2012 - 2:18pm — tony rebeloUnfortunately, we had a technical problem this morning (Wed 21 Feb at 06h00 GMT).
We've restored everything from a backup taken at 9am GMT (11am ZA time) yesterday (Tue 20 Feb). The site isn't currently displaying any observations added during the intervening 21 hours, but we anticipate being able to restore the missing observations in the next few days. So please don't "replace" any missing data - rather continue putting on new data.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Update
With the recovery of the data the figure is now 8953 observations, and we have just topped 11000 determinations.
However, registration is down. We will however, soon open iSpot to the webtrawlers again so that you will be able to use your favourite web search engine to find records on iSpot again.

UPDATE
The system was restored to its status just prior to downtime this morning and all data prior to 07h00 (ZA time) have been recovered.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you for the fix
Thank you on behalf of our community.
I am worried that iSpot may crash if there were too many bugs in the system. Perhaps we should put a ceiling on Hemiptera observations ...

Temporarily missing observations
We had some technical issues yesterday (Wed 21 Feb), and at the moment some observations added to iSpot between about 12 noon GMT and 2pm GMT are not appearing on the site. They're not lost, and we're working to get them back as soon as we can.
Our apologies.

Status
By the bye, we are 80 records from 9000 records and have already attained our highest totals to date for Reptiles and Amphibians and Fungi. Mammals are severely down. For 2/3 of the month we should easily get 1000 observations for the month, but wont get near our bird and plant records to date.
Will post more stats when we hit 9000 ...
