Notes: Slugeater (Duberria lutrix lutrix).Also known as the "tabakrolletie" because they sometimes roll themselves into a tight ball when threatened. Their overall colour varies widely according to habitat. I saw one in Durbanville that was almost bright yellow along the back. They were quite common in gardens but it is believed that they succumb to toxic snail-bait which gardeners are using more frequently now than in the past, when the tried and tested 'beer in a sunken tin' was used extensively.
