Description: Could have been a fallen oak or poplar tree.5cm cap with typical cep coloring and proportions. Was not aware that they grow on wood.

Description: 9cm chestnut brown cap. Overhanging margin with smooth velvety underside, no visible tubes. At apex of stem, skirt-like flaying, presumably of stem.

Description: With underside :) We fried and ate a fresher looking specimen, not the tastiest mushroom ever but also evidently not poisonous. The cook claimed tat the spongy underside was a sure sign of Boletusness, although in my aged mushroom book there appear to be several possible genera.
