Description: One has to view the 4 pics in "original" size and in sequence to appreciate the size of this flock. There are strict overflight restrictions to avoid disturbance of the breeding colonies. We maintained our vertical seperation as required.

Description: this time over 106 could be counted when a lull happened around 11:00.
with so many birds around, it was a lot of honking, neck wringing, beek touching, chasing and wing-bashing... to be witnessed. I only shot still photos, but can put up a series of 3 pics with 2 approaching each other...

Description: Very hazy day - thick mist. Beak with black tip. Just one pair which appeared to be a honeymooning couple... They do almost everything in tandem - a kind of gently synchronised ballet.
VERY unusual sighting - there are a number presently at the Wildevoelvlei Sewage Works but this is the first time seen here at the Kommetjie harbour on the mudflats. Causing rather a stir in Kommetjie. Still there today (25 May).
