Description: Should be the last of the beetle backlog. Which I imagine is a relief for everyone. Another awful picture. Resembles this member of the tribe Sericini photographed a couple of months previous to it in its bulbous form, which leads me to wonder... A similar size to the linked; 7-8mm, I think. Also found drowning itself in swimming pool.

Description: Um. Odd looking; terrible pictures, as usual, but its distinctly boxy shape made it difficult to discard these pictures. Another one found floundering and put on the aloe to dry out; not a natural association. Not tiny or huge, perhaps 12-14mm? Title updated from 'Scarabeidae?' (misspelling and all).

Description: If I'm not getting the character states right by now, there's no hope; these long, independent tarsal claws on flying-peanut type beetles are Rutelinae? The second specimen - in the third image - shares too much - colouring excepted - for me to assume they're different species; I suspect that 'different until proven the same' is a more reliable assumption than the reverse, but for now I feel I should limit my clogging up of servers where possible.

Description: I had this filed under ?Rutelinae? I'm now fairly sure, given Riaan Stals' recent note on tarsal claws, that it is almost certainly not that. What it actually could be is more troubling; I'm hoping that I'm at least floundering in the right superfamily, but... Quite small, probably 6-8mm. A number of similar-ish beetles were even more hyperactive and therefore even less visible in the resultant photographs; this one had attempted to drown itself, and was therefore quite sluggish by comparison. It also helped that it pretended to be a seed for a few moments.
